Musical Theater Workshop with Chris Bensinger

musical theatre broadway acting class

Tony award winning producer of Book of Mormon and American Idiot, Chris Bensinger, has joined the faculty of EMAS to help Los Angeles actors who’re looking toward the increasing number of musical opportunities in Hollywood and Television.  Mr.Bensinger will focus is on bridging the gap between the singer’s natural gifts and the intent of the songwriter. Integrating foundational acting techniques such as clear objectives, emotional connection and a unique point of view to the song. The final class will be an “Evening of Song” for students to perform for an invited audience of friends and family. Students will leave the class with a much stronger song performance, confidence and ability to book jobs in musical theater, television and film.

Limited to 10 students, each singer will work every class. Musical theater training/experience is strongly encouraged, as this is not a class where students learn to sing, but rather where they strengthen the performance aspect of a song. YOU MUST BE OVER 18 TO ENROLL IN THIS CLASS.  Each student will be responsible for selecting the songs they work on in class. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key for our live accompanist. A video recording of yourself singing your selected song should be submitted prior to the first day of class.

This is a very unique opportunity for those interested in musical theatre and the ever-increasing genre of “Musical TV” to work with one of the countries top Broadway producers. Don’t miss out!
